Preschool Screening
Our annual preschool screening will be held on February 23 and 24. Children who will be three years of age prior to Sept. 1 are eligible for the screening. The screening will be held at St. John’s Parish Hall. Each appointment will last about 45 minutes. You may call Douglas or Washington School for an appointment during the week of Feb. 8.
Children are screened for developmental milestones in the following areas: motor, communication, social, and cognitive skills. Vision and hearing screening will be available by our district nurse as well.
Children must attend the screening to determine eligibility for the preschool program at our school. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to be sure that their child is meeting developmental targets in a timely manner. If you have any questions about screening, please call Douglas or Washington School. Please share this screening information with neighbors, friends, and family who have age eligible children.
Kindergarten Pre-registration
We will hold our annual pre-registration for Kindergarten on Tuesday, March 2. Washington registration will be held at 5:00 in the cafeteria. Douglas School registration will be held at 6:00 in the gym. This pre-registration is vitally important for our district to be able to plan appropriately for next year’s Kindergarten classes. Our Kindergarten teachers, school secretary, and Joni Newberg, our school nurse will be present to answer any questions you may have. Children who will be five years of age on or before Sept. 1 are eligible to attend Kindergarten. Please bring a copy of your child’s immunization record and your child’s Certificate of Live Birth. We will copy these documents and return them to you before you leave. Please share this information with family and neighbors who have Kindergarten eligible age children.

When you open the outer door of the school, at the north end, a signal is sent to the office immediately. The signal will continue until the outer door closes. This will alert the office personnel that someone is in the entryway. The inner door will remain locked, until someone in the office notifies you that you may enter. If no one from the office has communicated with you by the time the outer door closes, please press the button on the south wall. You may be asked to identify yourself. |

It is the goal of the Washington School staff to provide for our students a complete educational program which will empower them to emerge as independent thinkers who will be able to make responsible choices. We will work together as parents, teachers and community to meet children's needs academically, physically, and emotionally. The program will stress academic achievement as well as the development of individuality, citizenship, creative expression and communication. |
